Access/Borrowing Services

Loan Period

General Collections

Undergraduate students may borrow books for 28 days.
Graduate students may borrow books for one semester.
Ph.D. students may borrow books for one semester.

Library notices for overdue books, recalls, and hold pickups will be sent via e-mail to your Fordham e-mail account.

Audio/Visual Materials

Music CDs, DVDs and VHS cassettes may be borrowed for 5 days.
Books with CD-ROM are available in EIC and may be borrowed for 28 days.

Reserve Materials

DVDs and VHS cassettes in the Walsh Library EIC are available for 4 hours.

DVDs and VHS cassettes in the Quinn Library A/V are available for 2 hours.

DVDs and VHS cassettes at the Fordham Westchester Library Circulation Desk are available for 2 hours.
Books and articles on Reserve at all campus libraries are available for 2 hours.

Renewals

Loans can be renewed up to three times if no one else has requested the book. After two weeks, a book may be recalled if someone else asks for it. A/V and EIC materials cannot be renewed.

Books can be renewed online by going to the Fordham Library Catalog and clicking on "My Account". You can also renew in person on or before the due date at the Circulation Desk, or by telephone:

All Fordham alumni have reading privileges at all Fordham libraries. Fordham alumni with a valid Alumni RamPass may obtain borrowing privileges for an annual fee of $100 at any Circulation Desk.

Access Privileges

Members of the following groups have access privileges to the Fordham University Libraries with presentation of current academic year school ID with photo:

  • Faculty visiting from other universities.
  • Students attending Westchester Colleges and Universities (WALDO). For a full list of WALDO members, please click here.
  • Students attending Jesuit institutions (AJCU). For a full list of AJCU members, please click here.
  • Students attending Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and users of St. Luke's/Roosevelt and Cornell Medical Center Libraries.
  • Students attending New York Area Theological Library Association (NYATLA) institutions. For a full list of NYATLA members, please click here.
  • Students and staff from OCLC SHARES institutions, though libraries that also participate in METRO are subject to METRO procedures listed below. For a full list of OCLC SHARES institutions, please click here.
  • Metropolitan Library Council members, presenting METRO Referral cards obtained from their home institutions, have one-time, on-site use of specific books or subject areas.
  • Instructors and employees of the New York Botanical Garden.
  • All others requesting access, please complete the Research Request Form to be considered for temporary and limited access. Guest access is granted solely for visiting scholars and researchers outside our library associations, provided that they have a demonstrated need for our collection and research resources. Access is not granted for any use other than that of research purposes, including for quiet or collaborative study spaces.

    Disclaimer: Each application will be reviewed to ensure the request criteria match the strength of our collection compared to other area library collections.

The Fordham University Libraries will restrict visitor access during the following study/exam periods for the 2014-15 academic year to ensure that library space is available for our own Fordham students and faculty:

April 20 - May 11

Borrowing Privileges

  • Full-time WALDO faculty have guest borrowing privileges (four-week loans, without renewal) with a valid WALDO sticker affixed to their academic ID.
  • Full-time AJCU faculty have borrowing privileges (four-week loans) with a valid AJCU Passport obtained from their home library.

Additional Access Information

  • U.S. Government documents are available for on-site use to the general public from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. Please apply for access at the Walsh Library (Rose Hill) or the Quinn Library (Lincoln Center).
  • The Fordham Museum of Greek, Etruscan and Roman Art at the Walsh Library is open to the general public from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Saturday and from 12 PM to 5 PM on Sunday. Patrons with valid ID may enter the museum.
  • Access to the Archives and Special Collections at the Walsh Library is available by appointment only. Please arrange an appointment in advance by contacting the Archives department at (718) 817-3560.
  • Fordham Law School Library access must be arranged through the Law School Library.

Access to the libraries for all of the preceding is dependent upon the presentation of valid I.D. and adherence to the policies of the Fordham University Libraries and Fordham University.
