Lab Facilities
The Walsh Library has four computer lab areas, which all together contain
more than 100 microcomputers. Rooms 044 and 047 can be reserved for presentations,
training and teaching. Reservations for individual class teaching are restricted
to five reservations per class per term. In addition, no reservations are
taken during the last three weeks of the semester. The Quinn Library on
the first floor of the Lowenstein building at Lincoln Center has a small
mixed use lab.
Walsh Library
Room 108B on the 1st floor. This room contains: 6 Apple computers
and 23 Dell computers all with Microsoft Office Professional, Internet
Explorer 6.0, Anti-Virus and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
This lab is part
of the Library's extended hours area and will be open later than the other
labs in the EIC.
Room 044 in the EIC. This Windows XP based computer lab contains: 1 presenter
computer and 22 student computers with headphones, overhead projection
and sound system, two vended network laser printers, Microsoft Office
Professional, Internet Explorer 6.0, Microsoft FrontPage, SPSS,
Anti-virus, Parliamo Italiano,
El Corrector, Sans Faute, Dos Mundos, and Acrobat Reader 6.0.
Room 047 in the EIC. This Windows XP based computer lab contains: 1 presenter
computer and 22 student computers, overhead projection and sound system,
two vended network laser printers, Microsoft Office Professional,
Internet Explorer 6.0, Microsoft FrontPage, SPSS, SyBase, Anti-virus,
and Acrobat Reader 5.0
Room 040 in the EIC. This open lab space features 12 Apple G5 computers
and 18 Dell computers all with Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer 6.0,
and Acrobat Reader 6.0. The Powermac G5 Apple computers in this area are
equipped with headphones and DVD drives for multimedia instruction. Vended
printing is available in both sections of room 040. This area cannot be
reserved.
Room 051 in the EIC. This room has 1 Dell and 1 Apple
G5 computer. These units are setup with scanners and have Adobe Photoshop
7.0, Microsoft Office Professional, Internet Explorer
6.0, Nero Burning Rom, Easy CD Creator, and Acrobat Reader 6.0. In addition
slide scanners, digital media readers, and color inkjet printers are available
in this lab. The room also contains an Apple computer with a music keyboard
and the Practica Musica software used by the Music Department. In addition
this room contains a light table and a copy stand for photographic work.
This room is available by reservation only. Please contact the EIC well
in advance if you wish to use this facility.
Quinn Library
A/V Room. This room has 35 Compaq Evo computers with the following software: Windows XP with MS Office and Internet Explorer, Lotus Smartsuite, SPSS, Samplepower, Maple 5.0, etc. In addition
there are 2 DVD players, 4 VCR's, 2 CD players, and 2 cassette decks in this lab.
