Your topic needs to be fine-tuned and given a focus. Consider what aspects of your topic interest you the most. Ask yourself these questions:

Is my topic too broad?

To narrow a topic, limit it to a specific time period, individual or group, geographic location, or aspect of the subject.

To broaden a topic, use parallel and broader associations to make the scope more general.

Are genetically altered tomatoes safe for young children to eat?
  • Agricultural biotechnology and food safety
  • Government regulations and genetically engineered food
