Periodicals are items that are received on a regular or periodic basis. For example, once a week or once a month.



Journals contain articles written by scholars or professionals in a particular field. Peer Reviewed journals are comprised of articles that have been examined by several scholars and deemed worthy of publication.

The scope of journals are very focused and are geared toward academics and professionals. Journals provide bibliographies that may lead to other relevant research.


Magazines contain articles written by journalists or scholars.

Magazines are comprised of articles geared toward the general public and usually discuss popular interest or current events.

Magazines usually contain images or photographs.
