Nonprofit organization, established in 1973, devoted to the protection, maintenance, and restoration of American Rivers. This site provides users with articles, news and information on the benefits of river conservation. A search on the Hudson River links users to over 2,000 articles.

Site produced by the New York Public Library, which provides original and rare nineteenth century sources from the library’s collection on the Hudson River and Valley. Selective photographs, maps, and prints are some of the items available on this site.

Hudson River Sloop Clearwater- http://www.clearwater.org/

Clearwater is the name of a sloop ship modeled after the Dutch sloop ships that used to travel the Hudson River in its early history. This sloop serves as an educational tool for creating public awareness on the importance of conserving the waterways, wildlife and environment of the Hudson River Valley. The site offers information on environmental concerns involving the Hudson River, including fact sheets on the PCB contamination. Learn how the Clearwater has benefited and shaped the environmental movement of the Hudson River.

The Hudson River Museum, in Yonkers, NY, houses a facility that educates the public on the history of the Hudson River and the challenges of preserving it. The museum, which also contains a planetarium, holds special events, exhibitions and workshops for the public.

Hudson River Maritime Museum- http://www.hrmm.org/

This museum, located in Kingston, NY, is rich in information and exhibits on the sloops, steamboats, and lighthouses of the Hudson River. It is the only museum in New York that is devoted solely to the history of the river as a means of travel and transportation, river’s influence on the development of surrounding river towns and industries.
